I’ve written about this before. Julius, in fact, all the boys, are jealous of the attention I give to the others. When he was not feeling well, Julius was hiding from me, which please Max to no end. Now that he’s doing better, Julius is spending a lot of time on top of my office table, curled up next to the keyboard, and Max is left to cry (beg) from the floor. Spooky, as always, takes over the piano bench next to my chair.

I’m so happy Jules is feeling better.  His fur is coming back, slowly.  The sores on the insides of his cheeks seem to be gone too.  I’m very pleased with his quick recovery.  So is he.  He’s fallen back in love with the SAD light, and jumps up onto the table to lay down facing it, even when it’s off.  I swear his purring is more audible these days too.  Such a calming effect a cat’s purr has.  It’s very satisfying to hear.

Jules is lying on the office table next to me, facing the SAD light and purring loudly. It’s so rare for him to purr loud enough to be heard, but it’s the first time he’s been able to lie so close to the warm lamp in quite a while. Plus he gets a lot of hands on attention, which he appreciates. Rub his cheeks and he gets louder and purrs a little faster. The fur is starting to grow back on his hind legs, but it’ll take a couple months for it to appear normal again. Even his belly is getting a little fuzz on it, so I wonder how long he’s really been suffering?

None of the cats really likes the prescription Science Diet ZD food, but they eat it. They like the canned food better than the dry stuff, but it’s so expensive, I’m not giving them wet food more often than twice a week.

Today I dropped a bundle on a vet visit for my pretty orange cat, Julius. He has started showing more leg than is normal, and I had no idea why. The vet thinks it’s a food allergy, so I’ve got him on Science Diet ZD ($$) for the time being. He’s never shown any signs of allergy before, so I’m hoping it’s just a temporary thing, but we’ll see.

The boy has been suffering and hiding ever since I kicked all the clawed kitties out of the bedroom two weeks ago, to free Dusty and Echo to relax and even eat during the nighttime hours. At her last visit, the vet expressed concern over Echo’s weight loss, so I thought I owed it to her to change things up.

It’s been grand cuddling with Dusty every night, but it’s not worth it if Jules suffers so much. I had no idea he was in such bad shape until the vet pointed out the sores on the inside of his upper lips. Poor guy.

Hopefully the shots and food change will set him right soon.

This morning, I woke up early, and settled down to eat breakfast in my comfy chair with a blanket over my legs.  And so, of course, I soon had a cuddly orange boy curled up purring on my lap, which then led to some tv watching and a mid-morning nap.  That was followed by watching the tv marathon of Torchwood: Children Of Earth on BBCA.  The whole time I had either Jules and/or Max on top of me.

Jules hasn’t been allowed into the master bedroom for over a week now, ever since I decided Dusty and Echo deserve a break from the mean kitties who upset them so.  Dusty has been thanking me every night since by laying by my side all night long.  I did start letting Spooky in, because he’s sweet to the girls, respects Dusty’s authority, and is a very warm cuddler at night.

But that means I don’t get to pet and talk to Jules after I lay down anymore.  So it was really nice to get such a long cuddle with him today.  All is right with the world now.
