Echo used to run away and hide whenever Julius was around, because he likes to chase her. It seems she’s figured out that he only chases her when she runs away. This morning, she came out from under the bed, and decided to get some food. Julius was crouching on the floor, between two laundry baskets. Echo walked in slow motion right past him. It looked like she was treading in a mine field, the way she took each step slowly and carefully, looking over at him every few steps. What a smart big girl she is!

I’ve been getting some “comment spam", so I decided to upgrade my website to the latest version of b2evolution code. Can you even tell? I think the user interface changes are very subtle. Most of the changes are on the “back end", where I administer the website. It’s getting pretty neat, and not sacrificing anything in speed.

Max is having a ball exploring the downstairs right now. Earlier, I started playing with him in his room, and decided to open the bedroom door to see if he was interested in exploring. He immediately darted out, found Spooky and started playing with him. It’s funny to watch a 2 lbs kitten and a 15 lb cat play fighting. Spooky was being very careful, intermixing his play bites with licks and sniffs.

Max seems very happy. I got him a collar with a bell on it, to help me know where he is. Oh, there he is now. He followed Spooky and me upstairs. Good Boy, Max!

Only 3 weeks later, and I got another kitten.

Persephone had 3 female siblings, or so we all thought. One of them was adopted by another guy, who had an older cat that hates male cats. It turned out that kitten was a male, and his older cat reacted badly, so he was looking for a new home for the little one. His loss, my gain! Yay!

He’s your typical playful 9 week old kitten. I took him right to the vet, and he came off with a clean bill of health (except for some nasty fleas). I’ve renamed him Maximilian, after the Emperor of Rome. He’s got a neat mixture of short and long hair, pretty dark stripes all over his sides, and an irrepressible personality.

Max LOVES his new “castle". Sleeps in it, plays on it, sharpens his little claws on it.

I got home last night to find a package on my doorstep. Upon opening it, I discovered this:

That’s a (feline friendly) bamboo plant Dusty is sniffing. It came from my vet’s office, along with a kind note acknowledging Persephone’s passing. Such nice doctors there! I can’t believe it. It made me cry all over again.
